A new toolkit, developed by the Child Labour Task Force co-led by Plan International and ILO, under the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, guides humanitarian actors and other agencies in the global community to effectively prevent and respond to child labour in humanitarian action. The toolkit is based on evidence from multiple contexts, includes 19 practical tools and 34 case studies.  The Toolkit has four parts:

1.       Why act on Child Labour in Humanitarian Action provides clarity on child labour concepts and legal frameworks, and outlines the main risks and consequences of child labour in humanitarian settings.

2.       Ensuring a quality response outlines the core elements that underpin a quality humanitarian response including coordination, needs assessment and analysis, strategy development and resource mobilisation.

3.       Prevention and response programme actions brings together a multi-sectoral programmatic framework for addressing child labour in a variety of humanitarian contexts. It covers sector-specific guidance and tools across child protection, education, food security and livelihoods, and health, as well as related to societal systems, policies and legislation.

4.       Core implementation actions: outlines other essential components of a child labour response including communications and advocacy, knowledge management and capacity-building, human resources, monitoring and evaluation, and information management.

The English version is available in our external website and the Child Labour Task Force microsite with all different resources. Arabic, French and Spanish versions of the toolkit will become available in the upcoming months.
